Itinerary

Day 1

You will be picked up from the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport by your People Like Us Safaris guide.  From here we drive to our lodge right on the border of the Kruger National Park. Once settled in we have lunch followed by free time to relax and an  optional afternoon game drive. At dusk we meet for a sun-downer followed by dinner around the fire. (LD)

Day 2

We are up before the sunrise and enter the Kruger National Park as soon as the gates open. Now is the time to see predators and other nocturnal animals before they settle down to rest for the day. We have a brunch at one of the many scenic picnic spots, often with antelope or even elephants as a back drop to our meal. We take our time and settle into the rhythm of the wild, and try to focus on whatever the groups particular interests are. What we see and which animals we spend time with will dictate our schedule for the day, however at sometime we will head to our camp to settle in and relax, normally during the heat of the day. In the camps there are bird hides, waterhole viewing points, shops and trails following the perimeter fence from where many a wild animal can be seen. Later in the afternoon we head out into the park in search of wildlife encounters and the opportunity to watch animals coming down to drink at a waterholes in the setting sun. We then head back to camp to relax and freshen up before dinner. Tonight we will be having a traditional braai (barbeque) under the stars, perhaps to the chorus of lions roaring in the distance. (BLD)

Day 3

We head out into the park with the sunrise to maximise our chance of coming across some of the big cats still active from the nights forays. The bright morning light and shadows are a photographers dream, never mind the possibility of National Geographic worthy subject matter. Later on we brunch at a wild picnic spot, often in the company of birds, monkeys and antelope. After a full morning immersed in the wonders of the African wild we slowly head back to camp for a siesta and swim during the heat of the day. Later we drive to a waterhole or head to the riverside for traditional sun-downers and the chance to see animals coming down to drink before the night sets in. this evening you are treated to more traditional South African fare in the form of  potjiekos (a slow cooked stew in a cast iron 3-legged pot cooked over the coals). After dinner we enjoy the “bush TV” (camp fire) and swap stories under the stars to the sounds of the African night. (BLD)

Day 4

Today we change location enabling us to explore some of the different habitats and ecosystems that the Kruger National Park has to offer. We do breakfast and lunch at wild picnic spots en route to our new camp. We arrive at our camp in the afternoon, settle in and explore. Later we head out for a sunset game drive to explore the habitats surrounding our new camp. Tonight there is the option of  going on a night drive with SANParks field guides (own expense). (BLD)

Day 5

We start with an early morning game drive in search of more fantastic photographs and wildlife encounters,  there is also an optional bush walk with SANParks field guides (own expense). We  return to camp for a hearty breakfast and to pack up. Enjoy a last meandering game drive through the park before exiting and returning the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, from where you will catch your onward flights. (BL)
